Chalkboard Frames

So many times I'm in the mood to create something but don't really want to start something that will take me a couple of days to finish.  I really love projects that are quick and easy.  How about you?  Well this one is definitely quick and easy.   It only took me about 10 minutes to from start to finish and I think they turned out really neat.
I created these using chalkboard contact paper.   I bought mine on Etsy already cut to size but Amazon carries rolls of it and it's not very expensive.  I found these frames on sale at Kirkland's and  picked them up especially for this project.
I took the glass out of the frame and carefully stuck the chalkboard paper onto it.  It's best to roll a little bit of the backing off and then line up the edges.  Then use a straight edge to rub the rest of the chalkboard paper on making sure to get rid of all the air bubbles.

That's it! Done!  Assemble the frame and start writing.  I just used a regular piece of chalk but I'm hoping to pick up a liquid chalk pen next time I go to the city.  I couldn't find one in town.  I think the liquid chalk pen will show better and also look neater and cleaner.  But regular chalk works for now.

I like how they turned out and how easy they were to create.  I put this one in my son's room and the other white one is in my daughter's room.  My original idea was to put scripure verses on them and set them around the house on night stands, bathrooms, kitchen counter, desks...  So many nice things you can do with these.  I'm thinking gifts.

  2. I'm with YOU on the "quick and easy projects"! Unfortunately, mine rarely are either. lol Have you tried Craigslist for freebie frames? I saw some on the one in my area just today.

Thanks for linking to Time Travel Thursday. Hope to see you each week.
