Sewing...

Why do Saturday's go by so fast?

All during the week I look forward to Saturday and once it's finally here it disappears quickly.

I spent my Saturday working on this doll.  I've been on a mission to learn how to sew.  Sewing was something I never was too interested in when I was younger.  I learned how to sew in high school in my Home Economics class.  I was never really good at it and found myself using the seam ripper WAY too many times which probably led to my total lack of interest in it.  Through the years I've sewn a little bit but only out of pure necessity like taking up the hem on my pants.  So, sadly, my sewing machine has been  siting in the closet most of the time.

Here lately I've drug it out of the closet to take on a few easy projects.  I'm determined to learn.  I want someday to be able to sew a skirt for myself.  But in the mean time I have to stick to easy stuff.  It doesn't get any easier than a cut and sew doll.  I worked  on this doll much longer than I should have but that's ok.  I finished her and that's all that matters.

So, What did you work on today?

  1. She is darling! I happened upon this meme as I was looking for a place to share my doll's dress that I made - don't sew much anymore but really have always loved to sew. I found early on that following my pattern directions religiously saved me a lot of time ripping out stitching and I ended up with a garment that I was pretty satisfied with. Good luck on your progress!
