I am happy to report that I am taking a knitting class. I've been wanting to learn how to knit for a while now but didn't have anyone to teach me. Every time I visit a knitting blog I ooh and ahh over all the wonderful knit hats, sweaters, or baby clothes people create with their knitting skills. Not too long ago I mentioned in a post that I wish I could find a good instructional video to learn from. We'll I found one on Craftsy. I should have looked there to begin with. I knew they offered online classes but it must have slipped my mind.
The class is called Knit Lab. I've watched the first four lessons and I really enjoy the class. I've been a good student practicing my knit stitch over and over again. I'll cast on and try to knit a few rows then unravel it and start all over again. It's been frustrating at times. I keep loosing stitches with these slippery metal needles and I keep splitting the yarn when trying to knit. I heard that wooden needles are better for beginners but I haven't found any locally. I'll have to keep practicing with these until I can order some. Also my hands and fingers cramp because of the awkwardness of holding the yarn and needles. I'm used to a crochet hook where I can just grab the yarn and pull it through the loop. Can't do that with a knitting needle.
In spite of it all, I'm eager to learn and can't wait to get better at it.

This is what the lessons are leading up to. At some point before I'm done with the class I will be knitting one of these pretty scarfs. At this point it doesn't ever seem like I'll ever be good enough to complete something like that, but I just have to keep telling myself...
baby steps.
I'll get there.
:)
Happy weekend everyone!
Hi Foxxy, I took a lesson from the Lion Brand Yarn Studio in NYC about 3 years ago and the class on knitting was very helpful. For me knitting seems harder also since I am a crocheter and love it. You just have to not give up and keep practicing and keep telling yourself like you said baby steps.. I can only knit simple scarves, infinity scarves and cowls. I just love the edging on that scarflet. Take care and have a nice weekend. Julie
