Crochet Cup Cozy

Could I interest any of you dears in a good 'ole cup of hot tea?
It's soothing and calming and helps a person stay
warm when it's cold and blustery outside.
Coffee would do the trick also.
Whatever your pleasure.
But my drink of choice is tea...
chamomile tea...
It's good by itself but even better with a little bit of sugar
♥♥♥
I got the idea of making these little cozies one day when I
was holding my cup and trying to sip on my tea while it was still hot, hot, hot.
The cozies, which are like a sweater for your cup, not only look cute but
also protect the hands while drinking a hot beverage.
I tried a few different patterns but for whatever reason
they weren't working for me.  I wanted something simple.  No fancy
stitches or complicated patterns... just something clean and simple...
so I made my own pattern.
These were fun to make.  Quick and simple.
Each one probably took me half an hour to finish.
Add a few extra minutes to sew on a button and weave in the ends.
I've included the pattern below for anyone interested.
Let me know if you try it.  Would love to know how it worked for you.

Crochet Cup Cozy

Worsted weight yarn
Hook size H

Begin with a chain long enough to go around your favorite coffee cup.  Leave a little bit of space for stretching.  The ends do not need to meet.  In my case, I chained 32.

row 1: hdc in 3rd chain from hook and in each stitch across. chain 6, turn.

row 2: sc in 2nd chain from hook and in the next 4 st.  hdc to end of row ending with a sc in the last st. chain 1, turn.

row 3: sc in 1st stitch. hdc across stopping at the buttonhole flap (29 hdc). sc 3, chain 1, skip 1, sc 1, chain 1, turn.

row 4: sc in next 5. hdc to end of row ending with a sc in the last stitch. chain 1, turn.

row 5: sc in 1st stitch. hdc across stopping at the buttonhole flap (29 hdc).  do NOT turn.

row 6: sc around entire cozy.

row 7 (optional) : slip stitch all the way around.

Finish off  by sewing on a button and weaving in all the ends.

  4. These are so cute and clever. I'm gonna make a couple. I have a couple favorites: a green tea with orange blossom and a chamomile with vanilla. I touch of sugar makes them so yummy....thinking about it...I'm gonna go get me a cup now. LOL

  6. Very pretty. I will have to try your pattern and will let you know how it turns out. I also like it's simplicity. Thanks for sharing your pattern with the rest of us. For me it would be coffee, but in the wintertime I do like a good cup of tea. Till next time,
