Crochet Valentine Hearts

A little sweetness just in time for Valentine's Day.
I can think of so many uses for these little hanging hearts.
I've had these pinned on Pinterest for quite some time now.
I just happened to be scrolling through my crochet board the
other day and came across them.  Since Valentine's day is just
around the corner I thought it was the perfect time to try out the pattern.
The pattern doesn't specify what yarn to use.  Whatever you do, don't use worsted weight yarn.  You'll end up with a big heavy heart the size of a small pillow.  Not a good idea.  I should know.  I tried it.  It's best to use a finer yarn.  I ended up using baby yarn on the ones I made.
I like these to hang on a doorknob or a hook somewhere around the house.  These could also be scented to make them even more special.
The link to the pattern is here.
I really enjoyed making them and will most likely end up making a few more.
Hope you'll give them a try sometime.
:)
Not a whole lot of sunshine around here.  It's been terribly cold the last few days.  It's been snowing on and off for the past week.  Yesterday there was a thick fog that hung around all day and the frost on the trees is building up pretty good.  I think old man winter wants us to know that he's still around.
While I don't like the cold, I am enjoying the scenery of frosted covered trees.
There's something magical about it all don't you think?

  1. Your hearts are so pretty, as are the frosted trees. We could do with some of that, all we have here are continuous grey rainy days! Julie x

  7. Your hearts turned out so pretty. I love the white one. I made a few of these last year and the cream colored ones were my favorite. They make great little gifts.

I have one done in the same pattern, I'd say, that hangs on my antique china cabinet in my kitchen. My friend Mary Anne made it for me last year as a Valentine gift. She made a different one this year. Gotta love a friend like that! :)))
