Handmade and Vintage...

Have you ever bought something,
brought it home,
 tucked it away,
and forgot all about it?

It seems to happen to me a lot.
I was going through an armoire I have in my bedroom the other day and I found this blanket stored in there.  I bought this blanket a couple of years back at a quaint little shop in a nearby town.  I was in love the moment I saw it.  It's vintage, it's hand embroidered, and it's hand quilted.  And of course the aqua color is pretty sweet too.

When I first brought it home I thought I could use it in the church nursery. It was over there for a few months until one of the church ladies donated a few crocheted blankets.  I didn't think my vintage quilt was needed anymore so I brought it home and tucked it away.
It's too pretty to keep in a drawer so I thought I would hang it in my sewing room.
It's funny how one thing leads to another.  Once I had it on the wall I decided that the hanger needed some love too.  Can't have a naked hanger when there's so much pretty yarn sitting around.
:)
Oh yes, much better.
It adds a little bit of charm to this empty space in my craft room.
Handmade and vintage....
how can you not love that combination?

Election day is tomorrow here in the U.S.
I'm happy to say though that my family has already voted.
We took advantage of the early voting period and went last Tuesday to cast our  ballots.  It felt good to get it done.  Now we just have to sit back and see what happens.

I the red, white, and blue.

  2. Beca, your quilt is just beautiful! I love the colors and the sweet stitch work. You figured out a great way to display it. I think we all tuck things away and lose them for awhile, but isn't it fun to find them again? Like a new gift! :)

I am so glad to vote tomorrow, finally. The campaign has been tedious. Hopefully everyone exercises their right to vote tomorrow.

  6. Hi Beca, what a gorgeous embroidered blanket. I love how you decorate the hanger with your gorgeous crochet work; so pretty. You are so lucky to have voted early. We don't have that here but I did vote very early this morning and no long lines for me. Yay. I can't wait to see who wins! Take care and have a wonderful week.
